How to Clean Your Hot Tub During Spring Cleaning

The winter has been a tough one and it’s probably been hard on your spa’s water as well. So with spring on its way, it is a great time to clean your hot tub. Follow our easy steps and you will have a sparkling clean hot tub ready for some fun in the sun.

Drain Hot Tub Water

Remember to drain your hot tub water and refill according to the instructions outlined in your Owner’s Manual to eliminate detergent residue from bathing suits and soap film which may have accumulated.

HELPFUL HINT: SHOWERING WITHOUT SOAP PRIOR TO ENTERING THE HOT TUB AND USING ONLY THE RINSE CYCLE WHEN LAUNDERING YOUR BATHING SUIT WILL HELP AVOID DETERGENT AND SOAP RESIDUE IN THE HOT TUB WATER.

Clean Your Hot Tub Filter!

As part of your regular maintenance, you should be removing filters from the hot tub and spraying with Jacuzzi Filter Spray on a weekly basis, leaving it for 15 minutes then rinsing with a hose pipe or under a tap and leaving to dry. Replace filters in the hot tub with the previous week’s dried filters.

On a quarterly basis, i.e. every three months, remove filters and soak overnight in Jacuzzi Filter Cleaner, then rinse and leave to dry. This will help release any oils or other contaminants that have built up in your filter.

Balance Your Water.

The key to a clean, healthy, happy spa environment is proper water chemistry.  To ensure clean, clear water, there are still some basic chemicals, such as chlorine, bromine, baquanine, or mineral-based purifiers, which you will need to add to the water to kill standing bacteria and other germs.

Chlorine is one of the most common and widely known water sanitizers. When the water care basics are followed, hot tub water chemistry can be maintained in just a few minutes a week.

Ask your consultant at Euphoria Lifestyle to help you determine the proper formula for your hot tub. The right configuration will be based on the size, make and model of your hot tub as well as how often you use it.

Check All Your Equipment

It is a good idea to periodically check all your equipment to ensure it is in working order. If you winterised your hot tub you will want to hook everything back up and get things going again.  Make sure your pump and jets turn on and off properly. Turn your heater to the desired temperature and make sure your hot tub heater is working.

Hot Tub Accessories and Ease

Spring is a great time to spruce things up around your hot tub, or simply make additions to make things easier.  Tired of lifting the large cover on and off your hot tub?

A hot tub cover lift would be a great addition, and make your hot tub experience much more enjoyable with a spa cover that is easy to remove and replace!

If getting in and out of your hot tub is becoming increasingly difficult due to age or physical limitations, a new set of hot tub steps may be just what you need. Or if you simply need somewhere to set your drinks while you are relaxing in your hot tub, check out the floating spa bar.

Cover

Examine your cover for any rips or wear and tear from the winter, and check to see if it has become waterlogged. If everything appears to be as it should, give your cover a good cleaning. It is important to use a vinyl protector to extend its life and appearance.

The vinyl cleaner should be used only on the top of the cover; you don’t want any of the cleaner’s chemicals to get into your hot tub and possibly affect the water’s chemistry.

To clean the underside of the cover, use a garden hose. To dry the hot tub cover, just let it air-dry (needless to say this should be done on a warm or sunny day).

Shell

All Euphoria, Jacuzzi hot tub shells have acrylic, non-porous surfaces to prevent dirt or germs from getting embedded within the shell. Hence, acrylic shells on most hot tubs are simple to clean.

Still, just like anything else that sits outdoors, the shell can get dusty. Wiping the shell down with a damp cloth periodically will keep your hot tub looking as nice as the day you bought it.
